Pharmacy Residency Programs

Legacy Health is proud to offer six positions for our Pharmacy Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Residency, two specialty residency positions in Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY2) Ambulatory Care, and one specialty residency position in PGY2 Infectious Diseases. Our PGY1 program is a multi-site program with six positions based out of five unique practice sites.

Our mission at Legacy Health is good health for our people, our patients, our community, and our world and that mission drives everything we do. We serve a diverse patient population from areas across the Pacific Northwest and we are dedicated to reflecting that within our healthcare teams. Diversity is broadly defined including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical abilities, socioeconomic status, religion, and other life experiences. We are committed to providing an environment that is welcoming and supportive of all trainees. In addition, as healthcare professionals, we know that health disparities and inequities disproportionately effect those from diverse backgrounds. We strive to recruit, educate, and retain a diverse pharmacy workforce with the skills needed to care for all patient populations.

Legacy Health is comprised of two tertiary care teaching hospitals and a children's hospital (Randall Children’s Hospital) located in downtown Portland and four community hospitals located in areas of Portland, Southwest Washington and Silverton, in addition to multiple outpatient primary and specialty clinics, urgent care centers and a research facility.

The pharmacy departments provide decentralized patient care including collaborative drug therapy protocol management, with a strong presence in all clinical areas within Legacy. Our pharmacy departments value a continuous learning environment, and our residency programs support this value.

Our pharmacists and residents serve as preceptors for pharmacy students from four local colleges of pharmacy. Legacy Health is proud to train future educators, preceptors, mentors and leaders in the profession and has trained over 40 PGY1 residents. Many of these past residents have stayed on as a member of our pharmacy team.
