Cecelia Portes

Cecelia Portes, Lab Assistant

LEGACY EMANUEL MEDICAL CENTER

As the primary phlebotomy trainer at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Cecilia Portes enjoys learning from her colleagues and sharing her experience with them. “I like to challenge my skills,” she says, adding, “I couldn’t ask for a better manager, and my supervisors are great.”

Cecilia’s coworkers call her “Superwoman” because of her strong work ethic and her busy family life with her husband and two children. She even finds time to share her Filipino cooking with her coworkers.

Felipe Gonzalez

Felipe Gonzalez, CHEF

LEGACY GOOD SAMARITAN MEDICAL CENTER

A seasoned chef, Felipe Gonzalez says his favorite work experience is here at Legacy Good Samaritan. “It’s great,” he says. “My management team listens to me, and it’s always a positive challenge.”

Felipe prepares special meals for room service and patients following dietitians’ orders. “I hope patients feel like the food is good for them,” he says.

On the weekend, you might find him riding his bike around Champoeg Park.

This is his life. This is his Legacy

Frank Tsui, Physical Therapy Assistant

LEGACY MERIDIAN PARK MEDICAL CENTER

Frank Tsui’s favorite book is The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama. It seems fitting, then, that he left a career in banking to become a physical therapist assistant.

Helping others is a way of life for Frank. He spent seven years with the Portland Marathon Training Clinic helping runners prepare for marathons. He also teaches martial arts and karate.

Even more rewarding for Frank is spending time with his young daughter, Vivianne. “She’s my sunshine,” he says. “I get to be her daddy.”

This is his life. This is his Legacy.

Lara Oluwafemi

Lara-Oluwafemi, Senior Applications

Technical Analyst

LEGACY HEALTH SYSTEM OFFICE

Lara Oluwafemi knew she wanted to work in computer science or healthcare. Now she gets to do both as part of a team dedicated to health information exchange technology in IS at Legacy. “Knowing that the work I do enables our clinical staff to do their job more efficiently gives me satisfaction,” she says.

At home, Lara unwinds by watching HGTV and Bollywood movies with her husband, and keeps busy with her two young daughters, Dara and Iyanu. “They’re my joy,” she says with pride.

This is her life. This is her Legacy.

Lynn Davis

Lynn Davis, Child Life Therapist

LEGACY EMANUEL MEDICAL CENTER

A Child Life Specialist in the pediatric care unit and a “goofball,” Lynn Davis uses play to help kids make sense of what is happening around them. “Children and teens need to play, no matter what their circumstances,” Lynn says. “That’s how they understand and cope with the medical world.”

Lynn also provides comfort for families in stressful situations. “I feel honored to be part of the journey for these families,” she says. “It’s a kind of sacred experience, and so incredible.”

This is her life. This is her Legacy.
