Women's Health Pelvic Floor/Conditions Related to Pregnancy

Physical therapy can be a noninvasive treatment approach for a variety of obstetrical, gynecological and post-surgical issues. Our specially trained therapists provide conservative, effective treatment for women in a caring and comfortable environment.

Conditions treated

  • Mastitis
For mothers who are breastfeeding, signs of mastitis include blocked ducts or recurrent engorgement of the breasts. Treatment includes a brief session of therapeutic ultrasound to the affected breast(s). Once the ultrasound is completed, you'll be encouraged to breastfeed or pump within 20 minutes of treatment.
  • Menopause
Physical therapy can be very helpful with the symptoms and side effects of menopause, including tendonitis, vasomotor issues and bone loss. We'll create a customized program that helps you maintain strength and flexibility in your later years. Legacy also offers a number of osteoporosis services.
  • Pelvic pain
Discomfort or pain in the pelvis related to muscle strain, weakness or imbalance can be treated with physical therapy, including relaxation training, soft tissue mobilization, strength and flexibility exercises, ultrasound, electrical stimulation or biofeedback.
  • Prenatal and post-partum conditions
Pregnancy can be physically demanding for even the fittest moms-to-be, with muscle-joint problems affecting the neck, back, limbs and other areas. We'll help you manage these prenatal challenges and also assist with post-partum or post-cesarean healing.
  • Urinary continence
If you have problems with leakage or overly frequent urination, there's good news: non-surgical treatment is available. We use physical therapy to strengthen your muscles and restore urinary continence. For more persistent cases, additional referral services offer thorough evaluation and both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options:
