ECMO transfers and referrals
Our dedicated ECMO critical care transport team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to safely transport critically ill patients by ambulance or aircraft. Legacy ECMO Center transport team has highly trained ECMO critical care specialists, including physicians, critical care RNs, respiratory therapists and perfusionists.
We have VDR capability and 30 years of ECMO experience. Since 2009, the center has transported more than 250 ECMO critical patients from facilities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including California, Idaho and Alaska. Additionally, there is critical care provider availability for consultation around the clock.

Severe respiratory failure due to potentially reversible etiology
>>Type 1 (hypoxic) acute respiratory failure
>>Type 2 (hypercapneic) acute respiratory failure
>>Uncompensated hypercapnia with pH < 7.15
- Inhalation/burn injuries
- Trauma/pulmonary contusion
- Asthma hypercarbia
- Cardiotoxic drug intoxication
- PaO2/FiO2 < 150
- Murray Lung Score ≥ 2
- FiO2 80%
