Chuukese interpreter training

There is a rapidly growing Chuukese speaking population that we serve in both the Salem area and Southwest Washington. However, finding qualified medical interpreters to help with their patient care has been difficult. That’s why we work with a community organization, Fourth Plain Forward, to find qualified bilingual candidates. With Medicaid dollars and support from Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health, we paid for the training of these candidates so they could become qualified Chuukese interpreters. Four trainees completed training. We are now organizing another cohort.
