Our numbers add up to better cancer care

Legacy Cancer Institute ranks among the nation's best cancer programs, according to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, a respected authority on cancer care. We’ve achieved this distinction by consistently delivering high quality care with the treatments known to be most effective.

Why is quality so important?

Accredited cancer programs demonstrate high quality, which means you receive the right care at the right time, according to the latest research. High quality is what gives you the best odds for survival and quality of life. That’s why it’s an important consideration when choosing a cancer care provider.

How is quality care measured?

Quality is measured by compliance with national standards. These standards measure how well a program delivers the treatments that are proven to work the best. Quality can also be measured in terms of results, such as survival rates.

Quality measures look at the percentage of time a program meets or exceeds national standards. In other words, how often the standard is met. The goal is 100 percent.

Who measures and verifies quality?

Accreditation is an endorsement of quality by an expert, third-party group. These organizations are respected for their commitment to advancing care. They gather data and closely examine how often patient outcomes meet care standards.
