Legacy Health is proud to share that the organization has signed the Health Sector Climate Pledge announced today by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. By participating in this pledge, we are joining other leading healthcare organizations across the country in committing to take meaningful action to address climate change by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and developing a climate resilience plan.

The health of our planet has a direct effect on human health. We see it here in the Pacific Northwest as intensifying wildfires and heat and cold events endanger the health and lives of people in our communities, especially those who are most vulnerable. Acting on climate change is a matter of health equity, and it goes to the very heart of our mission of good health.

Legacy has been active on environmental sustainability for years, maintaining initiatives on energy conservation, recycling, and sustainability criteria for purchasing supplies. Signing this pledge is another step forward. And as the threat of climate change becomes more serious, we know more is required of us.
