My Healthy Life

I used to think that I had to have the perfect healthy lifestyle in order to be healthy. But that’s not true. My life has changed during the past 18 months. Some days are better than others, but as long as I keep working at it and stay consistent, I’ll have a healthy lifestyle that works for me.

Before I had my son, I was big on activities for my mental health — working out and self-care. But it became hard to focus on these things as a new mom. Now that my son is almost two years old, I am finding ways to re-introduce healthier habits into my life again without missing out on my son. I know he is watching me and the habits I create for myself, so I want to set an example to help lead the way for healthier habits for him, too.

A healthy lifestyle for me now consists of keeping a routine in my life to keep me on track and stay consistent. I try to wake up early to have time to meditate, say my daily affirmations and drink lots of water before I start my day. I am taking advantage of the warm weather by walking more in the park with my son and signing up for exercise classes to motivate me to work out.

Since the pandemic, mental health has become a priority for me. I've been attending mental health workshops with other moms and that has helped me to learn more about myself personally and as a parent, too. Eating healthy has always been a challenge for me, so I've been using TikTok and Pinterest to find healthy recipes and tips for meal prepping to make it easier to eat healthier throughout the week.

It's not the perfect healthy lifestyle, but it works for me and will only improve as I continue working at it. 😊
