Legacy Health exits crisis standards of care for adult ICU, pediatric care
Feb. 14, 2023 – As of Monday, Feb. 13, Legacy Health and Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel moved to end crisis standards of care for adult ICU and pediatric care. Legacy Health hospitals continue to experience a high volume of patients and continue to face workforce challenges.
In November, the State of Oregon entered crisis standards of care for pediatric patients. In December, we and other health systems in the region entered crisis standards of care for planning adult ICUs care, as required by the State. This was to ensure we had the flexibility needed to respond to a surging caseload of flu, RSV, and COVID-19 patients.
We are grateful to our staff and partner health care systems in Oregon and Southwest Washington, who have worked tirelessly in response to the winter surge to ensure everyone had access to high-quality care.
