Legacy Health asks the public to avoid hospital emergency departments for COVID-19 tests

PORTLAND, ORE. – Jan. 5, 2022 – As COVID-19 cases rise due to the omicron variant, Legacy Health and the other healthcare systems in the area understand the frustration people are experiencing as they try to get a test. Emergency departments at local hospitals are not the place to get tested. Instead, contact your doctor to discuss testing options if you feel symptomatic. You can also check the Oregon Health Authority’s website for testing sites and events.
It may take time to get a test for travel, returning to work, and returning to school after a possible exposure. The best thing you can do to protect yourself and others is to practice good hand hygiene, wear a mask, physically distance, get your vaccine, and, if eligible, your booster.
