About Me:

I am Board certified in General Surgery and a Fellowship trained Foregut surgeon. After obtaining my medical degree from Creighton University, I completed my General Surgery residency at Oregon Health and Science University and went on to complete a fellowship in Thoracic and Foregut surgery at Swedish Medical Center. I chose a specialty in Foregut Surgery as it allows me to deal with complex problems with access to multiple different techniques to find the best solution for each patient. My aim is to provide comprehensive care, including both diagnostics and treatment through minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. I enjoy the opportunity to treat both malignant and benign esophageal and gastric conditions as well as general surgery problems including hernia, gallbladder and intestinal diseases. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children, enjoying the outdoors and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Is doctor Thomas Knowles was great

The only reason that wait time was rates less than excellent was that he was in emergency surgery. The MA kept me apprised of the ETA as Dr Knowles was calling the office with that info. I was politely given options to wait for about 45 minutes or leave and reschedule. It was my choice to wait. When Dr Knowles arrived, he profusely apologized for the delay as he did when I left. The entire staff was very nice and professional. I am completely satisfied with the entire appointment. I am confident that future procedures and, likely, surgery will be in good hands.

My visit with Dr. Knowles was very positive. Although he is a Surgeon, and I have never had surgery, I found him to be knowledgeable and sensitive to my medical condition. As a retired RN, he respected my medical background and conversed with me on a clinical level. I appreciated that level of conversation and his professionalism.

I was very impressed by the time the Dr took to explain everything thing to me, including drawing pictures on the white board to give me a visual understanding of what my insides look like and what could be happening and what the future tests would do, as well as possible surgery depending on the results. It put my mind at ease and made me much more comfortable with the upcoming tests.

Dr Knowles is my kind of doctor. Human, approachable, has a sense of humor and extremely knowledgeable. His front office staff blew my mind! Above and beyond helpful, without even having to ask. Very empathetic, understandable and thoroughon top of it!

I feel safe with Dr. Knowles! He listens attentively. He has a sense of humor. He is straight forward in explaining procedures and possible outcomes. Very glad that he will be my doctor!

Have a hs. I need surgery to remove the infection. This is in about six different zones of my body. My quality of life is crap. I'm in constant daily high level pain. The surgeon refused and is more focused on my blood sugar. I understand I need to get my blood sugar under control and it can slow the healing process. But having an infection can also raise your blood sugar levels. I can also work out if I don't have massive levels of pain and the inability to walk some days. The surgeon ordered blood test and suggested that I quit my job to improve my health. Unacceptable.

Dr. Tran, if we stop talking about race and gender identity, it will eventually be a non-issue. Take those questions out of this survey.My visits to Curtis Marr's office are always fantastic. Friendly and helpful medical pros. They care and show it.Dr Knowles is great. He's friendly and really knows scrotal anomalies. But, contrary to popular belief, he is not related to Beyonce.

I really like how the MA spoke to me about my condition. And Dr Knowles has been exceptional in my care; from the first appointment through all of my procedures. He and his staff are all exceptional, in my opinion. I felt very confident in their care.

I was a surgical PA for 40 years so I avoided many of the hurdles that others need to clear ergo this survey should be taken " with a grain of low sodium salt"

One of the 1st questions was related to the docs office calling back with results or other follow up. In this case, there was no need, so I answered "never".

Only issue was the need by the office to reschedule the initial appointment a couple of times to a later date each time. They were very courteous and professional in the calls and rescheduling.

Dr. Knowles office staff is first class, really helpful... Dr. Knowles is a God Send as far as I'm concerned; repairing my hernia in the best possible way, with little or no after effects, or pain, and on this post-op exam determining that the repair is holding and healing as it should.... I would and will recommend dr. Knowles to anyone I feel could benefit from his services... The Good Sam Hospital where the operation with Dr. Knowles took place, is like a well oiled machine, so smooth, and each patient treated like they are the only patients for that day.

Dr. Knowles listened to my history & concerns about recommendation for gallbladder removal. Amenable to having one of my sisters listen in to our conversation via the telephone. She was able to ask questions & make comments too. Dr. Knowles listened to me & educated me about why surgery is recommended. I'm terrified of surgery, but he has a calm demeanor & I think I'll be in good hands.

Can't find how to get the pictures of the surgery for what was done to see what was going to understand what happened, Dr knowles said I could find them on my chart. Please let me know how? Mike at 503 349 0540 thanks

Dr Knowles is an extremely talented surgeon. He performed a very complex surgery on me successfully. He's also a very nice guy.
