About Me:

Long dedicated to the health and care of women, Dr. Van Houten enjoys the breadth of practice encompassing both obstetrics and gynecology. Her areas of specific interest include high risk and normal obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, vulvar health, adolescent health, and contraceptive management. She seeks to provide women with the knowledge to make informed decisions to facilitate their personal health and well-being. Dr. Van Houten describes herself as an avid reader, crossword puzzle addict, NPR groupie, and dedicated runner. She and her husband are active supporters of the arts and enjoy the Pacific Northwest outdoors with their family including their Jack Russell Terrier, Evie Knievel.

My experience as a first time patient was excellent. I felt listened to and was impressed with how comfortable I felt despite annual exams not really being the funnest things to do in general. Also i didn't have to wait long to get in to my appointment after checking in.

This was my first visit to OBGYN in 40 years!!! I was long overdue.I'm currently 64 finally taking the time for ME!

Dr. Van Houten took the time to discuss several things with me and I never felt rushed. She is knowledgeable and efficient and I think she's a fantastic provider.

This office is very well organized, staff knew what to do, medical aide was respectful and knowledgeable about what needed to be done and even offered me use of the restroom. The dr was terrific- she accepted my male friend without question, was thorough and she didn't show any frustration when I didn't remember stuff from 25 years ago. She was gentle and gave me a running commentary on the procedure, not upset when my body reacted and she had to start over-reassured me it was doing its job. Even gave me a phone number for an in-system pcp when I asked. I found all her notes re:my visit on My Health next day - I've never had that before- even noted my friend gave me his hand for comfort. And, I found a complete list of Legacy doctors by clinic! Thanks doctor!

My scheduling admin went above and beyond to get me in immediately, and both my nurse and doctor were incredibly kind, personable, and empathetic. I felt like I was with friends so I felt very comfortable being honest. I've seen providers for this issue before who have made me feel embarrassed and almost guilty. This experience was extremely refreshing.

The MA was super nice. She was new, and she was friendly and made me feel welcomed. I hope she stays with the group for a long while. My doctor was amazing, as always. The woman who checked me in was super nice too.

I felt like the Dr and nurse were so nice. The Dr reviewed my history before coming in and the nurse was seriously an angel and made me feel like I didn't have anything to worry about and just acted like a normal human and to me, that's important.

Dr Van Houten is one of the best doctors I have had the privilege to see. She always takes time to review my concerns and make me feel heard, and provides treatment options that meet my needs. Everyone deserves to have a doctor like Dr Van Houten.
