About Me:

David Alarcon, M.S., CCC-SLP received his Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State University where he was awarded outstanding student of the year from the Oregon Speech and Hearing Association. David has been fortunate to have had a wide breadth of clinical experiences including inpatient acute care at OHSU, outpatient care at OHSU’s NWCVS Head and Neck Cancer and Voice clinics, and bilingual cognitive-linguistic therapy at a rural community clinic in Ecuador. Prior to his arrival at Legacy, he primarily worked with the geriatric population in numerous skilled nursing facilities in the Portland metro area and specialized in swallowing disorders and brain/language treatment. David’s professional interests include: Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, Stroke Rehabilitation, and Dysphagia. He believes in taking a functional approach to therapy to foster outcomes that are truly meaningful to patients and make a difference in everyday life.
