About Me:

Dr. Aris Thanos received his medical degree from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. Upon graduation, he performed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School investigating the mechanisms of vision loss after retinal detachment. Dr. Thanos completed his ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary and fellowship training in adult and pediatric vitreoretinal surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants of William Beaumont Hospital. In 2016, he received the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Award, the highest honor for a vitreoretinal surgery fellow in the United States. His research interests pertain to adult and pediatric retinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity and familial exudative vitreoretinopathy.. From a surgical standpoint, his interest pertain to macular hole without face down positioning, complex forms of retinal detachment, among others.

I was in the office and exam room for over three hours, saw Dr. Thanos for maybe 20 minutes total, and the assistants for an appropriate amount of time. Appt was at 2:15 and we arrived early as requested at check-in. We left after 5:00. I needed a driver as my eyes were dialated and this was my first visit with this doctor. It was a LONG time in the little room with the door closed. The rest room toilet in the waiting room was out of commission and, as I was leaving after 3 plus hours, was able to use one through a door at the back of the exam room area.Great doctor, kind staff, but too long without contact in the little exam room with no explanation. I just about walked out.

A previous provider resigned her position and moved and left the state. No previous notification prior to this anticipated move. Not a word. Silence. Very disturbing.

One time, they claimed I was getting a free sample of a medication, but I still had to pay for it. The laser thing cost a lot. I might need to know what my cost will be next time and maybe skip

This visit was good, but my prior appointment that week (in the Vancouver office) had an unprofessional receptionist, an extremely long wait time, and an outdated appearance. Also, the walls were very thin, and I could hear the doctor's conversations with other patients, which made me concerned that other patients could hear my discussion. The doctor and medical staff were all friendly and professional, but I do think someone should have told me to remove my eye make-up before the injection.

The 5/24 visit with Dr. Thanos was an initial consultation to further evaluate the status of my AMD and discuss treatment. This consult was ordered by Dr. Streiko.I found Dr. Thanos to be a very cordial and respectful Eye Specialist. He set an atmosphere of openness with questions and provided detailed explanations of the status on my condition, current treatments. He was extremely knowledgeable and generous in providing information on current treatments and research. In the setting of what is a very busy clinic he took time to review the imaging from the visit and again answer questions. As a retired NP who has worked with and been seen by a number of medical professionals I found his approach to care to be among the best I have received. I am very pleased and appreciative to be under the care of Dr. Thanos for my retinal condition.

Doctor Thanos is great but his staff weren't friendly- did not introduce themselves, did not even greet me. The tech who was taking pictures of my eyes was roughly turning my head and jerking my head around. Only the last person I interacted with was nice and friendly. I think the staff should be reminded to be pleasant and friendly to the patients.

My medical care was excellent by doctor Thanos and his team.The only thing I believe.Legacy needs to do is put my mental health provider.In contact with my.Physical care provider. I have complex PTSD.And communication.With my mental health provider would have been helpful.

I checked in 15 minutes prior to my 1:45 appointment....they didn't let Dr Thanos office upstairs at Devers know that I had checked in...after going to both registration desks again I finally got to his exam room at 2:45....apparently they didn't check me in....I had also checked in on line previously....Dr Thanos and his staff are always very kind and professional....although the wait time was very frustrating I guess human error is always possible.

The Doctor was on top of his game. He showed me a model of an eye and explained to me what was wrong with my eye. He was very good at his explanation.. From that he showed me why we were going to get another review in 6 weeks to see how things were going.

Dr.Thanos was very busy. I was in the clinic for over two hours for my appointment. I would like more explanations about what might occur when I leave, before I leave. This injection did not hurt as others have as I waited for an hour after numbing and before the injection.

Snow storm left a skeleton crew, made timing a little off, and expected. As a person who uses disabled placards it would be better for me if there were accessible spots closer to the Eye Clinic and easier to access.

Devers Eye(s), if not rated as the number one eye clinic in America, they damn well should be. There's nothing "routine" about losing ones eyesight; especially someone whos oldest, greatest and dearest passion is and has been since 1971, the art and science of photography! Please extend my deepest appreciation and sincere wishes for "everyone" at not just Devers but the entire Legacy Health System network for giving me one of the necessary needs I require to exist; that being the feeling of safety, security and love as, I'm guessing, a byproduct of their passion(s) to serve those in need.... Scientifically AND as in my case, without the means to be able to dream of affording, let alone being able to remain hopeful for the future! Thank you ALL!Merry Christmas!

I am seeing This eye Dr for an extreme eye problem that he is treating w eye injections that aren't on the formulary that Pacificare usesI am a long term Legacy RN and am fortunate that he has samples as this treatment is helping my eye condition. Pacificare should reconsider what they authorize

In spite of the fact that I have to get a large needle in my eye (not as bad as it sounds, as they are very careful to ensure comfort), visits to treat my wet AMD are always most pleasant. All the staff are amazing, as is Dr. Thanos, who has a wonderful chairside manner, listens to my concerns, laughs at my terrible jokes and, most Important, excels in his area of expertise. I am certain that if I can leave this world with my sight mostly intact, it will be because of Dr. Thanos. He and his staff are wonderful.
