An Update About Hopewell House
It’s been nearly a year since Legacy Health began making changes to the future of Hopewell House, and in that process, engaging with our community so connected to the home’s rich history.
We recognize and appreciate the passion Hopewell House supporters have brought to our conversation, joining in our shared priority of providing care for terminally ill patients and their families with dignity and grace.
Since discontinuing in-patient services last fall, we've continued to use Hopewell House as the main base for Legacy Health’s 24/7 home hospice and wrap-around services, including bereavement care, support groups, and grief counseling for adults and children. This was an interim solution as we determined the best way to meet the needs for high-quality, end-of-life care across the communities we serve.
After careful consideration of the most central location for the seven counties home hospice serves, our Legacy Hospice Services team will be housed on the Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center campus, starting at the end of this year.
As we transition services, we know this creates additional uncertainty about the property’s future. Though the decision was not made lightly, we will be placing the Hopewell House property up for sale. We hope future owners of the property will use it to benefit the community.
We hold a special place in our hearts for the many patients and families we have cared for during our time in the Hillsdale neighborhood. We, too, share your desire to see Hopewell House’s legacy of compassionate end-of-life care carry on. Our home team will bring the spirit of Hopewell House ensuring each hospice patient and their family is treated with love, dignity and respect.
We are grateful for your support throughout the years and the comfort it provided patients and families. Please know, we will continue to honor Hopewell's rich history through our people: our dedicated physicians, nurses, other staff, and volunteers who are the true heart of our hospice care services.
