Legacy Health is the only system in the Portland-Vancouver area using the Synaptive BrightMatter and the BrainPath technologies for neurosurgery patients.

These technologies give our surgeons the ability to see details not often visible through other technologies. We also perform the surgery with smaller incisions than conventional surgery.

Hope against bleeding stroke

Our techniques offer hope of a better recovery for patients who have suffered a hemorrhagic (bleeding) stroke, often deep in the brain. Hemorrhagic stroke can result in significant brain damage, paralysis and even death. Learn more about hemorrhagic stroke.

Conventional thinking was that people with large blood clots or bleeding strokes should not be operated on because surgery would have caused too much damage to the healthy parts of the brain. Our technology makes surgery possible because it minimizes damage.

By protecting the brain’s white matter during surgery, our advanced technology allows a neurosurgeon to remove a blood clot and minimize further damage to the brain. It also helps restore brain function that was previously thought lost during a hemorrhagic stroke.
