Is it a cold? Is it a sore throat, or is something more? Sometimes It’s tough to know when your child should see a pediatrician or if specialty care is recommended. If your child frequently experiences the following, ask your pediatrician for a referral to one of our Randall-affiliated specialists.
Snoring: Though typically not an urgent concern, a visit to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist will determine if your child may suffer from conditions like sleep apnea.
Recurrent colds: It’s unfortunate but it’s also normal for children to have frequent colds-sometimes occurring as often as every three to four weeks. If your child’s symptoms are persistent (lasting more than a week) or get worse—it may be time for a visit with a specialist.
Chronic ear infections: Earaches can be painful, but the good news is the majority of ear infections clear up on their own within a few days. If your child has more than three ear infections during a six-month period, it’s a good idea to schedule an ENT evaluation.
If your child seems to be experiencing language delays, loss of hearing or learning problems, talk with your pediatrician or schedule an appointment with an ENT specialist.
