Vision Rehabilitation

Helping patients live independently

If you have difficulty seeing, everyday tasks and activities such as reading, using technology, recognizing faces and doing hobbies can be difficult, slow and frustrating. The most common causes of low vision are macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and stroke.

Vision rehabilitation can help you live more safely and independently, even while living with a vision problem that can’t be fixed with regular glasses or contact lenses.

Our vision rehabilitation doctor and therapist work together to create a treatment plan for each patient.

Treatment options include:

  • Special glasses
  • Magnifiers
  • Lighting
  • Hand-held and spectacle telescopes
  • Sunglasses
  • Closed-circuit TVs
  • Numerous e-products, such as tablets, smart phones and computers

The initial appointment takes about 90 minutes with follow up appointments scheduled as needed. Bring any glasses and/or magnifiers that you have to the appointment.
