The Research Student Internship Program at the Legacy Research Institute offers college-level undergraduates an opportunity to further their education and training through meaningful exposure to basic science research in the laboratories of Legacy research scientists. The program is designed to help participants understand the nature of bioscience research and emphasizes methods of discovery and communication of knowledge, not the mastery of established facts.

The internship typically lasts 10-12 weeks, with some variance in time commitment based on  schedules. The position is full-time (40 hours/week for the duration of the summer) and participants receive the minimum wage payment for their time.

Participants will work with their mentors on established ongoing projects, or may have the opportunity to design an independent research project in line with the overall goals of the laboratory.  At the end of the internship period, participants are expected to make a presentation to the research staff about their scientific experience and any findings made.
