When a child faces a medical or therapeutic issue, Randall Children’s Hospital is here to provide outstanding care in a child-friendly environment.

As a regional leader in children's development and rehabilitation, we offer services to children in both in the hospital, as well as clinics. We provide outpatient children's therapy throughout  Portland and Washington: Randall Children's Hospital, Legacy Meridian Park and Legacy Salmon Creek.  We treat all ages, from the youngest babies — even those born prematurely — up to 18 years old.

Our child focused centers provide evaluation and therapy in occupational, physical and speech. We’ve designed our clinics for babies, children and their families, and kid-friendly waiting rooms and size appropriate equipment.

We believe that parents, caregivers and families are the most important members of the child’s care team, playing a vital part in their healing. This is at the heart of our care.

Physical therapy

Our physical therapists work on improving movement, strength and mobility. This might include strengthening, endurance, balance or coordination exercises.

Therapists work with each patient individually to develop a plan that helps them play and move independently to the best of their ability.

Physical therapy services include:

  • Casting and splinting

Speech therapy

The ability to communicate is critical to a child’s learning and emotional and social development. It can be frustrating for both kids and caregivers if the child is unable to express themselves or connect with others. Speech therapists evaluate and treat children struggling with communication, language or swallowing.

Our team offers expert and comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations and therapy. After our speech-language pathologist evaluates your child’s communication abilities, we'll design a personalized treatment plan.

Speech therapy may focus on helping a patient speak clearly, understand language or eat and swallow independently.

Speech therapy services include helping children with:

  • Use and understanding of language
  • Articulation and other speech disorders
  • Stuttering
  • Augmentative communication and use of assistive devices
  • Feeding and swallowing
  • Cognition (attention, concentration, memory, and problem solving)
  • Social and play skills
  • In-home SLP therapy (select sites)
  • Voice and nasality
