What is infectious disease?

Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by organisms — such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Many of these organisms live in and on our bodies. Sometimes they are harmless or even helpful to us. However, under some conditions, various organisms may cause sickness or disease.

Some types of infectious disease

Our team of specialists treat a wide range of conditions related to infectious diseases, including:

  • Infections requiring prolonged IV antibiotics
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis
  • Hospital follow-up of invasive infections
  • Infections in patients with weakened immune systems
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Infections from tropical diseases
  • Pre-travel vaccination planning

Referrals

Our infectious disease providers require a referral for all new patients who have not already been seen in the hospital setting. Once received, our team will review your case to determine if we are in-network with your insurance and if your condition is appropriate for our service. Due to high demand, we are unable to accept all incoming referrals. If a referral is declined, we will contact the referring office to provide explanation.
