Our inpatient rehabilitation program focus solely on children because, quite simply, kids are different than adults. We treat each child with respect and compassion, taking into consideration specific needs and desired results.

We treat kids who

  • Need complex medical management from physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians) and rehabilitation nursing, 24/7
  • Benefit from at least two types of therapy (physical, occupational, speech and/or orthosis)
  • May require coordination of complicated physical, emotional, thinking, behavioral and/or social issues related to discharge planning
  • Have Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy (RND) or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and require a specialized, intensive treatment program
  • Have Conversion Disorder that affects ability to walk
  • Need the above and have tracheostomies and/or are on ventilators

Some kids may benefit from the intensive therapy services offered with inpatient rehabilitation, without needing to stay in the hospital. For these kids, our Day Treatment program may be a better option.

Common conditions we treat

  • Acquired Brain Disorders: Such as trauma, stroke, cancer, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, encephalopathies
  • Spinal cord disorders: Such as trauma, transverse myelitis, cancer, meningitis
  • Other new onset disabilities: Such as deconditioning from prolonged hospitalization, multiple major trauma, burns, amputation, Guillain-Barre syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome or reflex neurovascular dystrophy, conversion disorder that affects ability to walk.
  • Chronic disabilities needing a burst of intensive services to help with everyday living: Such as cerebral palsy, muscular disorders
