Prothrombin Gene Mutation
Prothrombin - F2 - FII - G20210A - PGM - PT PCR - c.*97G>A - Factor II
Specimen Collection Requirements
One lavender (EDTA) whole blood tube
Whole blood sample must be submitted in original container. Aliquot tubes will not be accepted. Do not separate whole blood.
Specimens collected in heparin, specimens with insufficient volume, specimens tested in non-molecular labs, aliquoted specimens, specimens past stability and clotted specimens.
Ambient: Up to 3 days; Refrigerated: Up to 7 days; Frozen: Up to 6 weeks.
Critical sterile. Samples cannot be shared with other laboratory departments unless molecular testing is performed first.
Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using the cobas® Factor II and Factor V Test (IVD) on the cobas® z 480 analyzer
Though rare, mutations within the genomic DNA regions of the Factor II gene covered by the primers or probes used in the cobas® Factor II and Factor V Test may result in failure to detect the presence of the Factor II G20210A mutation. The presence of PCR inhibitors may cause invalid or incorrect results.
